Nellie Bly (May 5, 1864[1] – January 27, 1922) was the pen name of American pioneer female journalist Elizabeth Jane Cochran. She remains notable for two feats: a record-breaking trip around the worldin emulation of Jules Verne's character Phileas Fogg, and an exposé in which she faked insanity to study a mental institution from within. In addition to her writing, she was also an industrialist and charity worker.

A link to her extended article Ten Days in a Mad-House here, should be more than enough reading material for her.

Wow, the things she had done seem quite revolutionary for someone (be it man or woman) during her time.

The way she writes seem very narrative and descriptive, which seems common amongst Si types who tend to go into detail on what they had seen and experienced.
