Clint Eastwood is better known for his fists than his fashion sense, but that didn't stop GQ magazine from naming him a man of the year.

Eastwood joins Barack Obama, Tom Brady, the three stars of "The Hangover" and "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine on five special covers for the December issue (www.gq.com), which hits newsstands Tuesday.

Eastwood talks politics, love, religion, diet and women in a wide-ranging interview with deputy editor Michael Hainey, who calls the 79-year-old the "patron saint of late bloomers."

Eastwood gained fame for his acting in the spaghetti Westerns of the 1960s, but won his first Oscar (for directing) for "Unforgiven" at age 62.

His new movie, "Invictus," is the true story of Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) and the mostly white South African rugby team that helped usher the country out of apartheid.

"The world needs this kind of story nowadays," Eastwood said. "It's just...everybody's so screwed up. It seems like our country's in kind of a morbid mood, because of the recession or whatever."

We're "becoming more juvenile as a nation," he said. "The guys who won World War II and that whole generation have disappeared, and now we have a bunch of teenage twits."

Eastwood meditates twice a day, avoids saturated fats and does 30 minutes on the elliptical machine each morning.

He used to "find meaning" in chasing girls, but says he's now happily monogamous."I never thought I'd get there, but I did. It feels good."

“Some of the evil of my tale may have been inherent in our circumstances. For years we lived anyhow with one another in the naked desert, under the indifferent heaven. By day the hot sun fermented us; and we were dizzied by the beating wind. At night we were stained by dew, and shamed into pettiness by the innumerable silences of stars. We were a self-centered army without parade or gesture, devoted to freedom, the second of man's creeds, a purpose so ravenous that it devoured all our strength, a hope so transcendent that our earlier ambitions faded in its glare.” —T.E. Clint Eastwood is my new hero and an inspiration to all American men.

Stay in shape, make and save money, sportfuck American women till you are 66. Then marry a hot 30 year old Latina and have a child with her. Well, 66 might be a tad extreme, but there is absolutely no reason for men to even start thinking about getting married and having children until they are in their 40s.

I am guessing Dina does not bitch at Clint and loves giving him blowjobs.

Wouldn't that get old though?

Do you think Dina is ENFp?

Just so we're all clear and there's no confusion, I didn't write my previous post. It's an excerpt I took from the site I linked at the bottom. I remember reading that years ago and the GQ article just reminded me of it.

I'm not sure what about that lifestyle you think might get old. He made his money and fucked younger women most of his adult life (or at least, that's how the article presents it. Clint actually had two signifigant decades long relationships before Dina) and then married and "settled down" with kids and all.

I don't think the article implied anything about Dina (or their marriage) other than she is easy to get along with and sexually satisfies her husband. Which isn't to say that is the only reason Clint married her. The intent of the entire site is to convince American men to wait until they are at least 40 years old to marry a foreign woman.

He's one of the most boring human beings ever to exists. His films lack any insight, and are basically considered good merely because they use serious subject matter to get some sobs.

By getting "juvenile," he probably just means not crying about dead African babies every day, then I hope we continue to devolve.

I mean, I'm pretty sure you could accurately express clint eastwood with a 3x3 matrix. T(x)=blaaaaaaah

Your avatar juxtaposed with the whiney, childish nature of your post pretty much solidifies Eastwood's entire point IMO.

Wow, I've always liked Eastwood's films, even if I almost routinely disagree with some of the morals they suggest. But at a more general level, I love how his films aways ask: "Are you tough enough to do what you think is right?"

I'm curious to know what are the films which you have considered are insightful.

You have a twilight avatar.  You have no rights.  This country is going towards sparkly vampires & emo girls.

Eastwood movies are cinematographicaly boring.  His characters are all statics.

My avatar is simply a statement of support of Dakota Fanning. The fact that it's from the NEW MOON film is merely incidental.

I am a God Mod. I have all the rights.

His new movie, "Invictus," is the true story of Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) and the mostly white South African rugby team that helped usher the country out of apartheid.

It would be interesting to see how he deals with Nelson Mandela (ENFj of ENFjs) in his new movie. Anyway, Eastwood strikes me as probably generally sensible. I have not been able to bring myself yet to see any of his movies but I think I will read the magazine when I have some free time.
