Because in all truth reality/realism is just as 'unreal' and non-existent as ideals are. Because through a whole bunch of complex, interwoven shit we're truly able to write our own destinies via a plethora of intelligent reality tunnels and self-fulfilling prophecies. The IEI naturally cannot help being both. To be a good writer/lyricist, the IEI realizes he has to use concrete descriptions in the here and now so everybody can be persuaded into experiencing how the world should be. And writing can't help but being idealistic, even scientific writing. Even if you explain something down to its most raw form, the opportunity for idealism will naturally exist in the written word due to other people's imaginations. Writing only begets more writing, completely self-perpetuating itself. Even if you describe something exactly as it is, it can then only motivate a group of people to attempt to make it better in real life. Sometimes this truly works out well, and sometimes it doesn't. Well then how do you lay down the most basic, straightforward path to start these ideals, that should in fact come true (as even Gammas want them, since a healthy IEI's ideals are good for everybody.) You talk to a Gamma.
What gammas have is something that pierces through the aforementioned duality cycle, and sees a person where they are truly are beyond the state of wishes (ideals) and perceptions (reality). It cannot be really labeled 'purely realistic' because reality itself is forged through our perceptions and outlook and environmental circumstance. So thus you have the LIE obviously supervising the IEI and parlaying his whims, the ILI detracting the IEI as 'silly', the ESI being great at psychoanalyzing the IEI's motives and sensing their true inner workings (but offering no true solutions), and the SEE being relatively standoffish and smug-seeming to the IEI's ideals as a whole.
Gamma psychology appears intimidating and 'bullying' to other quadras, because it offers no real solutions as it simply does not operate in the psychological dimension of reality tunnels/world of infinite ideals that the other quadras operate in to varying degrees of potency. To other quadras, they can view this as either their hopes are being shattered, or the Gammas are politely waking them up to reality, but no matter if they take a sunny/dark perspective on the manner, the truth to a Gamma is none of these things- and it's more true that Gammas are only concerned with .... actuality. Not reality. The combination of functions of

all point to understanding and utilizing actuality very well. But hope does indeed, spring eternal. Miracles, do, indeed happen- and the law of potentiality/randomness occurs and idealism and reality tunnels align with actuality all.the.time. (And that's how we get Order and Objectivity. Even Actuality needs Objectivity.) Otherwise, we wouldn't ever be able to recover from depressing mental states, or change for the better when we needed to, or have a different outlook on anything, or have good luck or a bunch of other shit. Or feel barren one day, and hopeful the next. But it won't stop a Gamma from still, always noticing the actuality of a person even if it disrupts the emotional atmosphere of a situation. This also relates to Gamma's general conservatism and wanting to be pure and independent/self-supporting. To judge actuality in term of
ethics... or really any other function is probably meaningless, just the the four functions again, working together, create the concept of what we all understand as 'actuality.' From a societal perspective, Actuality and Reality/Idealism are complementary traits to create a textbook social system where we can all grudgingly get along at the most basic levels regardless of our personal/private feelings towards each other. But from a personal relationship perspective, they are surely not complementary, and Gammas should avoid close psychological distance with other types for everybody's sanity. Society needs all types out in the real world, but for personal relationships, if you don't date within your own quadra you will most likely end up regretting it. Or it won't be as fulfilling. Or whatever. A lot of different scenarios could happen via reality tunnels.
